Locus of Life

Hello and welcome
Thank you for visiting Locus of Life.
I grew up in Japan and later moved to the UK following a significant turning point in my life. Living in a new environment, adapting to cultural differences,
and balancing work and family life deepened my interest in the human mind
and in the life transitions we all face.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked for many years as a flight attendant
in Japan, where I had the opportunity to meet and connect with people
from a wide range of backgrounds. My life in the UK has also brought its own challenges and changes. Through these experiences, I came to understand
more deeply that each person carries their own unique story, and that having
a safe space to talk openly can be profoundly important.
This led me to train as a counsellor.
I am now a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and my work is grounded in a person-centred approach, while also integrating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to support each client’s individual needs.
I aim to offer a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts
and feelings with honesty, care, and at your own pace

My Story
A major turning point in my life was going through a divorce.
The years of separation discussions and court proceedings had a profound impact on my self-esteem and self-acceptance. It became a period in which I had to reflect deeply on who I was and how I related to others.
At first, I found myself looking outside of myself for answers, wondering why
I could not be understood, and why I was in so much pain.
Over time, however, as I began to turn inward and reflect more deeply,
I gradually came to realise:
“I cannot change other people, but I can change how I respond
and how I choose to live.”
This experience taught me the importance of turning towards my inner world,
and of having a safe space in which to speak honestly about difficult feelings.
One of my strengths as a counsellor comes not only from my professional training, but also from the understanding I have gained through lived experience.
Having married someone from a different cultural background and lived in the UK for over 20 years, I have a deep personal understanding of the challenges of multicultural life and the tensions that can arise from differing values.
I also went through the process of divorce in the UK while raising my young son,
which gave me a profound sense of empathy for the loneliness, uncertainty,
and emotional strain that can come with living through difficult circumstances.
These experiences form an important foundation in my work. They help me to support people not only with cross-cultural issues, but also with relationship difficulties, stress, and struggles around self-understanding.
In my counselling work, I place great importance on honesty and compassion.
I aim to offer support in a way that helps you feel safe enough to explore your thoughts and feelings, and to reconnect with your own strength at a pace that
feels manageable for you.
I hope to support you as you move forward, gently and in your own way.
