with care, respect and confidentiality.

This Privacy Policy explains how Locus of Life (referred to as “I”, “me” or “my”) collects, stores and processes personal information through my online counselling services and website (“my website”). I am committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), which governs how personal data is handled in the UK and, where applicable, internationally.

GP or primary healthcare provider contact details
Notes from counselling sessions

I may also collect information about your therapy goals, support network, financial circumstances,

and any other relevant details needed to support safe, ethical and effective counselling.

How Your Information Is Used

I use personal information only where necessary and appropriate, including for:

Responding to enquiries
Arranging and providing counselling services
Contacting clients in the event of an emergency
Making referrals to other professionals, where appropriate and with your explicit consent

Counselling session notes and the information you share in sessions are treated as strictly confidential.

They will not be shared without your consent unless I am required to do so by law or there is

a serious safeguarding concern.

Legal Basis for Processing

Under the UK GDPR, I process personal information on the lawful basis of performance of a contract, as this information is necessary in order to provide counselling services.

Where I process special category data, such as health-related information, I do so under Article 9 of the UK GDPR

for the provision of confidential counselling and support services.

I take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information.

Electronic Data

Electronic records are stored on password-protected and/or fingerprint-secured devices. Files are also password protected, and identifying details are stored separately wherever possible in anonymised or minimised form.

Physical Data

Any paper records are kept securely in locked storage and, where possible, in anonymised form.

Your personal information is accessible only to me and is handled in accordance with UK GDPR requirements.

Data Retention

Your personal information will usually be retained for a minimum of 7 years after our counselling work has ended,

in line with professional, insurance and legal requirements. After this period, your data will be securely destroyed

unless I am required by law to keep it for longer.

Your Rights

Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to:

Access the personal data I hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
Request erasure of your data in certain circumstances
Restrict the processing of your information in certain circumstances
Request data portability, where applicable
Object to certain types of processing
