About My Approach

 

As an integrative counsellor, I tailor my approach to each client’s individual needs, circumstances, and pace.

By drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches, I aim to offer counselling that feels both supportive and meaningful,

while responding to the unique challenges you may be facing.

My work is primarily informed by the following approaches:

🌸Person-Centred Approach

At the heart of my work is the intention to offer a warm, empathic, and non-judgemental space where you can speak freely about your thoughts and feelings.

This approach encourages self-exploration, helping you to develop greater self-awareness and connect with your own inner resources for growth and change.

🌸Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT can be particularly helpful for anxiety, low mood, and stress. It involves noticing patterns in thoughts and behaviours

that may be contributing to distress, and finding more balanced and constructive ways of responding.

  • Helps to identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns

  • Supports the development of practical skills for managing emotions and behaviours

🌸Emotional Regulation and Mindfulness Skills

I also draw on DBT-informed skills when working with clients who feel overwhelmed by intense emotions,

interpersonal difficulties, or high levels of stress. This may include mindfulness practices and practical strategies

to help strengthen emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and more effective ways of relating to others.

  • Supports greater emotional balance and healthier relationships

Individual Online Counselling

I offer one-to-one online counselling sessions in a safe, confidential, and supportive space.

I work with a range of concerns, including:

  • Anxiety and stress

  • Low mood and depression

  • Emotional regulation and coping skills

  • Relationship difficulties, including divorce and intercultural or international relationships

  • Cross-cultural challenges and adjustment difficulties

  • Low self-esteem and loss of confidence

  • Personal development and life transitions

  • Work-related stress

  • Feelings of emptiness, isolation, or emotional overwhelm

  • Panic symptoms

  • Perfectionism and related difficulties

Session Details

  • Length: 50 minutes

  • Format: Online, via a secure video platform

  • Languages: English and Japanese
